“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.”
―
Charlotte Brontë,
Jane Eyre
She lives in Rio de Janeiro, the second
largest city of Brazil, with her husband and two daughters.
With a Masters in Business Law and great
interest in cases of abuse and violation of human rights of children and women,
she’s a lawyer and a writer. After twenty-two years of practicing law, she
finally decided to give writing a go and that was when she realized that it was
the piece that was missing in her life.
We met on Goodreads. I, a journalism
student, a lover of books and a part-time writer. She- a published author with a beautiful
smile and gracious words that inspired me to keep writing! That was only the
beginning of a bond between two people staying miles apart. It was no ordinary
one.
I read the books written by her (The Modern Man, The Trust Trilogy) and I just could not
classify them just as Romantic Fiction because
it had so much more to offer. Maybe this is the need of an adrenaline-pumped
generation who want to make a difference but at the same time want to explore
and have a fulfilling life.
We discussed issues of women’s abuse,
discrimination and of course her relationship with the characters of her book.
Being a lawyer, I felt I should know about her opinions and her views on the rising
violence, the issue of rape cases in India where pornography has also been
touted to be a trigger in some cases. What I got to know was insightful and I
thought of sharing it with you. It was a privilege to get a chance to interview
her.

ReplyDeleteDivya,
ReplyDeleteIt was a pleasure to have been interviewed by you. Your intelligent and pertinent questions were extremely appropriate not only to the theme of my books, but also to the turbulent times we are living. Thank you for the opportunity.
Cris xx
Glad that you liked the presentation. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteCris,
ReplyDeleteGuess that's what reading your books has done to me. It made me think, it still does... A lot!
Hopefully there would be a difference in the turbulent times- even if it is bit by bit. The change starts here...
